Alexander, K. (2014). Crossover. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company. Josh Bell and his identical twin brother love basketball. Their father was a professional basketball player in the Italian team known for his famous crossover until he hurt his knee and refused to have surgery. He instilled the love of basketball in his children. Josh also known as Filthy McNasty, loves the game a little more than his brother Jordan. The two brothers are inseparable until a new girl, Mrs. Sweet Tea, comes into the picture. Jordan starts spending all his time with her and Josh gets jealous. Because of this Josh ends up hurting Jordan in a basketball game and gets suspended from playing basketball. At the same time their father has been feeling ill but refuses to go to doctor. He hates doctors because they couldn't help his father. In the end Jordan is let back into the team but their father ends up in the hospital. Josh runs to his side, but Jordan is angry and refuses to go to hospital. Mr. Bell ends up dying from the same thing his dad died of, myocardial infraction. The strength I found in the book is how their father was one-hundred percent behind his sons. He taught them everything about basketball and cheered at every game. His sons were everything to him. In the end he gave Josh his championship ring. The ring both sons would always admire. Other books like this one are Gone Fishing: A novel in verse written by Tamera Will Wissinger and Words with Wings written by Nikki Grimes. All three of these novels are written in verse. What I learned from reading this novel is that we shouldn't take life for granted. If we feel  sick we need to go to the doctor especially if some sickness runs in the family.
