Harris, R. (2009). It's perfectly normal. Boston, MA: Candlewick Press. It's Perfectly Normal doesn't have a main character. Actually the main character is you. This book teaches young kids that their sexuality is perfectly normal. It's normal to have questions about your body. The strength of this book is that it answers the many questions students may have about their changing bodies, growing up, sex, and sexual health. Parents that don't know how to answer questions their children might have about sex can read this book to them. Questions varying from their changing bodies to sexually transmitted diseases. This book is divided into categories by subject. For example it had information on giving birth, changing bodies, masturbation, and it also had illustrations of both the female and male body parts. You can easily find what you are looking for in the table of contents. Another book parents can read to their children on the same topic is What's Happening to My Body? Book for Girls: A Growing-Up Guide for Parents and Daughters written by Lynda Madaras. Other books by Harris are It's so Amazing, It's Not the Stork, and Let's Talk about Girls, Boys, Babies, Bodies, Families, and friends. As a parent it's always hard to have the talk of the birds and the bees with your children. Harris makes it easy with this book. Just about any question can be answered through reading this book. I have three kids myself and after reading this book I feel comfortable enough to let them read this book to answer any questions they might have.
